Peppermint is a hybrid mint and is a cross between water mint (Mentha aquatica) and spearmint (Mentha spicata). Peppermint is just one of over 25 different species of mint. When consumed in certain dishes, it can bring a really nice flavor to everything it touches. It is also believed by many that it can help with calming, digestion, and cold/flu, though there's no real scientific evidence as yet to substantiate such.
