Persian Tea Recipe: Walnut Cookies

 Ingredients: 

 For the Dough: 

- 1 cup walnuts (finely ground) 

- ½ cup almond flour (for a softer texture) 

- ¾ cup all-purpose flour 

- ½ cup butter (softened) 

- ⅓ cup brown sugar (for extra chewiness) 

- 2 tablespoons honey (optional, for moisture) 

- 1 egg yolk 

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 

- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional) 

- ½ teaspoon baking powder 

- ¼ teaspoon salt 

For Topping: 

- ¼ cup chopped walnuts 

- 1 egg white (for brushing) 

- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for dusting, optional) 

 

 Instructions: 

1️. Prepare the Dough: 

   - In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and creamy. 

   - Add honey, egg yolk, and vanilla extract and mix well. 

   - In another bowl, whisk together flour, almond flour, ground walnuts, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. 

   - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined. 

   - Cover the dough and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes for better texture. 

 

2️.  Shape & Bake the Cookies: 

   - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper. 

   - Take small portions of dough and roll them into balls. 

   - Press lightly to flatten and place them on the baking tray. 

   - Brush the tops with beaten egg white and sprinkle with chopped walnuts. 

   - Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges turn golden. 

 

3️.  Finishing Touches: 

   - Let the cookies cool completely. 

   - Optionally, dust them with powdered sugar for an elegant look. 

   - Serve with a warm cup of Persian tea or coffee and enjoy!

 

Tips & Variations: 

If you like extra crunch, bake for 2-3 minutes longer. 

Add dark chocolate chips for a unique twist! 

Drizzle with honey or caramel sauce for a richer flavor.
