Persian Tea Recipe: Pistachio & Walnut Oscar Cookies
Oscar cookies are a delightful Persian treat known for their buttery texture and crunchy nut topping. These cookies are perfect for special occasions and pair wonderfully with tea or coffee. Here’s how you can make them at home!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 and 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (100g) crushed pistachios
- 1/2 cup (100g) crushed walnuts
- 1 egg white (for coating)
Instructions:
1️. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2️. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar until creamy.
3️. Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract, then mix well.
4️. Sift in the flour and baking powder, then gradually add the milk to form a smooth dough.
5️. Roll small portions of the dough into balls and lightly flatten them.
6️. Brush each cookie with egg white, then dip the tops into crushed pistachios or walnuts.
7️. Arrange them on the prepared baking tray and bake for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
8️. Let them cool completely before serving.
These buttery, nutty cookies are best enjoyed with a cup of Persian tea.
